North of Watford Volume 3 makes me want to find and buy volumes 1 and 2. This is a brilliant collection of tracks, some I know and love (It's Too Late, Highwire, I've Been Hurt) and others that were new to me. Most of these are real gems; Wait A Minute by Tim Tam and The Turnons (how's that for a name!), She's Alright by McKenna Mendelson Mainline, who I had never heard but now can highly recommend. A great selection of tracks from Edwin Starr, Joyce Vincent (Solid As A Rock,an all time favourite, Steve Mancha, David Ruffin, and a host of others. Twenty four tracks of pure bliss!

This is a product of the 80's. The homage tracks, songs in the style of Northern Soul, are good songs on the whole but I'm not sure why they were produced when there were, and still are, so many originals to be found. Also, they, like the remixes, were a bit too overproduced, too polished. Altogether a good, danceable set of 24 tracks (you get your money's worth). Recommended if you don't mind that a lot of them don't, to my mind, capture the true spirit of North...
