Charlie Mariano - Not Quite a Ballad (Live Recording, 2004)
Charlie Mariano is one of the last surviving bop saxophonists. Much of his later work is however contemporary and fresh sounding. He is known for his love of Indian music and has produced a few albums with a blend of jazz and Indian, similar to one or two of Jan Garbarek's disks. Monty Alexander - Yard Movement (1996)
Monty Alexander is a superb keyboard player of the Oscar Peterson style. He is Jamaican born and not adverse to pandering to his roots and blending some Jamaican rhythms into his work. This album is full-on Jamaican blend but turns out to be quite funky and will be a delight to people that enjoy the likes of Ramsey Lewis. Don't worry if you don't like Reggie. I'm not too keen on it but this album has me tapping a foot every time. Great stuff !

Joe Cocker - ! (1998)
For me, some of Joe Cocker's more recent albums have been a bit hit and miss. Sometimes he really nails it and produces something great. But he can sound like a man with asthma or a male Tina Turner. This album is the old classic Cocker with many of the tracks being ones he's continued to perform throughout his career. If you like Joe Cocker buy 'Joe Cocker!' !!!
