1870s Collectable Antique CDVs & Cabinets (Pre-1940)

1870s to end of the century. 12 Victorian CDVs. This particular group I would consider to be of poor quality because they have any or more of the following; fading, spotting, dirt.

An 8.5cm x 5.5cm carte de visite image of Alfred Lord Tennyson, Poet Laureate with a facsimile of his autograph printed beneath the image. Photographed by the London Stereoscopic Company c.1870.

CONDITION : SLIGHT DISCOLOURATION TO CARD.

An early CDV not attributed to a Photographer/Studio. Good condition, plain white backstarting to fade, minor age wear, needs rescuing.

An 8.5cm x 5.5cm carte de visite image of a seated dog, possibly a Bulldog(?). The sitter identified in a contemporary hand beneath the image as 'Rex' with a further inscription on the reverse, reading 'My Grandson' with the date of October (18)79. Photographed by Forshaw & Coles of Oxford c.1879.

An 8.5cm x 5.5cm carte de visite image of a senior British army officer with 4 medals visible on his chest. The sitter identified in the album from which this came and by a loose cut signature originally pasted beneath this image in the album, as Edward Newdegate. An Image of Lieutenant General Sir Edward Newdegate (Lieutenant Colonel? in this photograph) who served at a number of the principal engagements of the Crimean War and was commander of the 2nd Division during the Anglo-Zulu war.
