• 1824 Marked Rifle Volunteer Officers Powder Flask

    Here we have a very nice horn and silver powder flask with an 1824 silver mark. The flask is one of a style regularly carried with British Officers in the beginning of the 19th century. This powder flask was made by G & J W Hawksley, Sheffield who made a number of powder flasks between 1800 and 1899.

    2 A pistol flask with double flute body design which is 4 inches tall. The fixed common top has a 3 graduations and is marked, faintly, Dixon & Sons. The charger adjustments are currently stuck and need freeing, the seams are all perfect and it has a strong working spring. There is a shallow dent in the centre of one side, see picture, otherwise in fine condition. There are traces of what appears to be a reddish lacquer in places which must have been the original finish. See Riling page 52 for a similar flask with cased duelling pistols.
