Horseboxes
There is a large choice of new and used horseboxes available for hobbyist and professional equestrians who own, ride and show horses. Back ramp, forward facing, backward facing and living horseboxes for sale can be stalled for 2, 3 and 4 horses across tonnage of up to 3.5 tons, 6.5-7.5 tons and over 7.5 tons (HGV). There are also horsebox parts which can be purchased for spares or repair to your current horsebox.
As motorised vehicles adapted to carry horses, modern horseboxes typically have aluminium floors and hydraulic ramps for easy access and exit. Many horseboxes offer CCTV options for added security, which enable you to keep an eye on the horses while moving and which can also aid reversing. Horseboxes can be found manufactured by leading marques such Ford, IVECO and Leyland.
The larger capacity horseboxes over 7.5 tons HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) can stall up to 4 large horses standing in herringbone partitions and have air suspension and tilt cabs. These models have large areas for tack storage and include cut through cabs to move easily into the living area.
Living Horseboxes
Living horseboxes offer a living area to accommodate overnight stays and long hauls which are often required when competing regularly. Such horseboxes vary in design and level of luxury according to your level of requirements. If you enter local shows only basic horseboxes can make an ideal choice as many feature “day living” cabs which offer up an area to change in, a sleeping cabin and separate storage area for tack.
Alternatively, if you travel long distances a lot you will require a fully equipped living area which is present in many luxury living horseboxes. Many of these premium models have fully fitted kitchens including sink, fridge, oven and internal lighting and power and offer all home comforts.
