The king of helmets
AGV is an Italian motorcycle helmet manufacturer that started out producing leather seats and motorcycle saddles in the 1940s. It’s founder Gino Amisano became known as the “King of Helmets” due to AGV’s superior quality and popularity across Europe.
Perhaps AGV’s most famous helmet, the AGV Pista GP was designed and tested with the help of seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi. It’s made from carbon-fibre and has nearly double the ventilation of other helmets on the market. Valentino Rossi has worn AGV helmets throughout his career as have fellow world champions including Nelson Piquet, Niki Lauda and Giacomo Agostini.

Each helmet must undergo a series of tests which assesses its durability, materials, paint resistance and ability to protect the rider from the wind. Helmets also undergo rigorous visual tests to ensure there are no defective visors or visual impairments.
If you’re buying a helmet with the intention of wearing it on British and European roads, it’ll need to comply with British Standard BS 6658:1985 and feature the BSI Kitemark. Motorcycle helmets that meet the UNECE Regulation 22.05 standard or a European Economic Area equivalent are also permitted.
