There is a lot of confusion over the variety Penstemon Sour Grapes; often retailers selling Stapleford Gem as this variet but it is now becoming more generally known that this variety was given to Margery Fysh of East Lambrook Manor, Somerset in in the 1950's. A spreading habit the flowers are a mauve, reddish, violet tone with a white throat with clear maroon pencilling. Named because of its tendency to mass flwoers at the top of each stem like a bunch of grapes! The green coloring of the buds, enhances this effect. Regardless, there is still massive debate as to the accuracy of this plant! An erect but bushy grower up to 60cm in height (24 inches) and around 45cm in spread (30 inches) depending on soil fertility it flowers summer long and is appy in full sun. Can be grown in partial shade either way the soil needs to be well drained.
