  • Antique Coalport Etruscan Tea Cup Angular Handle English Porcelain c 1817 - 1825

    A beautiful, high quality English porcelain, bone china, cup dating from around 1817- 25. It has been hand painted with double headed large pink roses on an apple green ground with gilding. The quality of the painting of the roses is beautiful, very naturalistic. The quality of the flower painting is such that it may have been produced by William Billingsley. The shape of the cup is known as etruscan with an angular handle. See pg111, pl664, Compendium of British Cups, Berthoud. There are no makers marks but we think that it is probably Coalport. Size 1 7/8" H, 3 7/8" D. weighs 114g unpacked. Fair antique condition.Glued Chip to cup bowl rim small loss. Wear to gilded rim, some glaze crazing, enamel flaking and slight bone china body discolouration. Please see the photographs.

    Here we have a very decorative antique English porcelain plate dating from around 1835- 40 and in the Rockingham style. The 7 inches diameter plate has a buff or beige coloured border and has three hand painted vignettes featuring beautifully executed landscapes with castles, mountains and lakes. The plate has opulent gilding and is a very well made item from a quality factory. There is a painted number 450 on the base but no other clues as to the maker. It weighs 241g unpacked and is in very good antique condition with just a minor amount of rubbing to the gilding. This is a lovely piece to add to any collection of antique English porcelain and suitable for display and use. ​Please take a look at my other antique items listed for sale this week including more antique ceramics.

    Here we have a superb antique first period Worcester porcelain tea pot dating from 1765 -70 and with the distintinctive blue painted mark on the base. The teapot has a white soft paste body and is beautifully hand painted in the Kempthorne pattern with Chinese style flowers and foliage in underglaze blue and colours including iron red, green and pale blue. There are two patterned bands at the foot and neck with hatched gilding. The teapot is globular and stands 6 in high and a maximum of 8 in wide. It weighs 476g and is in excellent antique condition with just a couple of firing tears inside the neck rim and at the edge of the lid. There is a little paint flaking at the top of the knob. To find a piece of first period Worcester porcelain in such fantastic condition is quite a rarity.
