  • Antique Georgian Engraved Glass Stirrup Cup c1820s

    This is a superb example of antique English glass dating to the late Georgian period. It is a stirrup cup engraved with vines with gentle vertical ribbing to the body. It has inclusions and bubbles to the glass as is typical of the period. Measuring 17cm tall it is in reasonable condition with small chips to the bottom end and nibbling and a 2mm shallow flake off the top rim (hence the low price). This is a delightful piece, and a must for the collector of antique British glass due to it's rarity.

    For is an antique lead crystal dram glass. I believe this dates to about 1820 as other references online, for example ScottishAntiques have sold a very similar one on their website. It's bowl is a lipped bucket with slice cuts on the outside, underneath is an angular knop which follows to a slightly conical foot with a polished pontil on the bottom.

    This sale is for a rare and utterly delightful antique Georgian glass bottle decanter with the original facetted stopper, dating to around the 1780s. It is beautifully engraved with leaves and berries or grapes and the word 'Brandy', with thumb-cut slices to the body and neck, a polished out pontil mark, and the striations, inclusions and other manufacturing flaws typical of the period. Measuring 12" (31cm) tall including the stopper it is in excellent condition with only wear from use and great age (small marks and scuffs plus tiny fleabites to various edges - exactly as it should be on a piece of this age); there is also minor grubbiness to the bottom where it is difficult to clean. This is a very rare piece of Georgian glass, and you will look long and hard before coming across a similar one.
