  • Georgian Engraved Glass Brandy Bottle Decanter c1780s V Rare

This sale is for a rare and utterly delightful antique Georgian glass bottle decanter with the original facetted stopper, dating to around the 1780s. It is beautifully engraved with leaves and berries or grapes and the word 'Brandy', with thumb-cut slices to the body and neck, a polished out pontil mark, and the striations, inclusions and other manufacturing flaws typical of the period. Measuring 12" (31cm) tall including the stopper it is in excellent condition with only wear from use and great age (small marks and scuffs plus tiny fleabites to various edges - exactly as it should be on a piece of this age); there is also minor grubbiness to the bottom where it is difficult to clean. This is a very rare piece of Georgian glass, and you will look long and hard before coming across a similar one.

  • Antique Georgian Glass Wedding Table Salts Painted Portraits c1800 Rare Trio

This is a charming trio of antique Georgian glass table salts dating to around 1800. They are wedding salts or trenchers, typically given to the happy couple and reverse painted on the base with their portraits on two, and a gold star on red background for the third. These were very much a middle-class wedding gift, were quite expensive and, due to the daily nature of their use, they tend not to survive in good condition (if at all) so these are rare pieces, especially as a trio (I have only even seen these as pairs before). Measuring 8cm long and 7cm wide they have been well used showing a good deal of wear and tear with many chips and nibbles to edges, corners, and points. The portraits are in quite good condition, however, with a piece missing from the right side of the woman, bottom of the man, and wear to the paint on both.
