Kitchen Copper Desk, Mantel and Carriage Clocks

Add a touch of rustic charm to your home with a kitchen copper desk, mantel or carriage clock. Copper is a lightweight metal which is easy to clean and can be made into most shapes. It is also resilient which means your clock will not be easily broken.

Types of copper clock

Carriage clocksare often square with roman numerals on the clock face. They often have a handle at the top which is mainly for decorative purposes. Mantel clocks sit on a shelf or mantelpiece and are designed to stand out so it is easy to tell the time. These can sometimes be quite large in size and they are also used for ornamental purposes.

Desk clockscome in all shapes and sizes, but generally do not take up too much room. Desk clocks can be used anywhere and some can even be used in the bedroom as an alarm clock. Copper clocks often use the old fashioned method of a hammer knocking two bells, which makes them easy to hear.

Contemporary styles of desk clock include polished designs, which are in wider or longer shape to a more traditional clock and the clock faces can be smaller to read. Traditional clocks have two small feet for the clock to rest on and larger numbers.

The choice of clock face is purely personal preference. Often large, clear numbers are preferred by those with poorer eyesight, but larger roman numerals can be clear and easy to see as well. Not all clocks have a second hand, though most do, and this can be useful for timing things, particularly in the kitchen.

Most copper clocks are battery operated, with a battery compartment tucked at the back out of sight and a dial on the back to alter the time when the clocks go back or forward.
