    This porcelain dessert plate , was made by Minton , circa 1860 , and bears the pattern number A4796, on the base . It has a reticulated border and is decorated with a handpainted scene of a boy with a basket of flowers and has three panels of flowers around the edge and enriched with gilding . It measures 9 5/8" in diameter . It is in good condition with no chips , cracks or restoration , and gilding is good , there is just a small area of staining on the back edge , as shown .

  • 19th C. Plate Showing the Dominican Monastery at Batalha, Portugal

    The maker of this plate is unknown . It has a pattern showing a large monastery with figures in the foreground within a floral border. See page 34 of 'The dictionary of blue & white printed pottery 1780-1880' by A.W. Coysh & R.K. Henrywood. Batalha is a small town about 50 miles north of Lisbon & a few miles from the coast. It has a large Dominican Monastery which contains the tomb of Henry the Navigator. The plate has a chip or rub mark to the edge (photo), It has some scratching to the face but otherwise is good for display. It measures 9.75" (24.5cm) diameter & weighs 413 grams.

    This is a beautiful example of early nineteenth century porcelain, dating to the late Regency or early Victorian period. It is a serving dish, beautifully decorated with raised sprigs of violets, a decorative border and a scalloped edge. It is unmarked and measures 24.5cm wide and is in very good condition with only very slight crazing to a small part of the underside, and a glazed-over under-rim chip (so obviously a manufacturing flaw), plus some cutlery marks.
