THIS STUNNING BRONZE OR COPPER RING IS MADE IN A BAND STYLE AND FEATURES LOTS OF LINE ENGRAVINGS RUNNING THE WHOLE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE HOOP MAKING A FANTASTIC DECORATION. THE ARTEFACT HAS BEEN SYMPATHETICALLY CLEANED TO REVEAL HOW IT WOULD HAVE LOOKED FOR ITS FIRST OWNER BUT STILL RETAINS A LOT OF AGE.

ALL THE ARTEFACTS ARE CAREFULLY RESEARCHED TO IDENTIFY THEM AND I DRAW UPON MY EXPERIENCE OF WORKING IN A MUSEUM FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND BY USING LOTS OF REFERENCE BOOKS.

Anglo-Saxon?. Strap-end?. artefact recorded/found on the Isle of Wight and described as a casket mount. Recorded on the PAS the recorder identified it as a strap-end and is what I also believed it. a single rivet hole (within one of the triangles where a dot would be to mirror the opposite).
Fantastic & rare heraldic horse harness stud pendant with excellent snake motif. Nice condition and a beautiful artefact.
Measures approx 44mm x 35mm.
Condition as seen so please see photos. I think this is bronze.
Please check out my other items as I have many more to list :)
THE RING HAS A HOOP THAT TAPERS OUT AND HAS THE FANTASTIC ‘HUNCHED SHOULDERS’ TYPICAL OF MANY ROMAN RINGS. AMBER WAS A POPULAR CHOICE FOR ROMAN JEWELLERY WITH MOST OF IT COMING FROM THE BALTIC. THE NICEST ROMAN RING I HAVE EVER HAD.
INSERTED INTO THE BEZEL IS A GORGEOUS PIECE OF BLUE/GREEN GLASS ACTING AS A CENTREPIECE. THE GLASS HAS BEEN CRACKED IN ANTIQUITY BUT IS ALL STILL IN THE BEZEL AND IS SECURE. PERIOD/CULTURE: 13TH-14 CENTURY AD/BRITISH.
Very unusual coin or token. Can't be sure on the date 1397, 1597, 1797 under a eye glass looks like 1597 with heraldic shield with crossed swords, other side has a bishop and mitre with 1111 in the legend so it's someone the 4th. Diameter 29mm.
