Dr Martens Women's Velvet Shoes

Add a touch of luxury to your shoe collection with a pair of Dr Martens women's velvet shoes. Dr Martens shoes have always been known for their durability and comfort, combined with their fashionable finish.

The Dr Martens brand was launched in the UK in 1961 and, although their design was initially sold and bought as a hard-wearing workwear boot, their footwear has, in the years since, become a cultural icon and is closely linked to music festivals and the music industry.

Dr Martens footwear was not originally designed for women but, with a significant number of small-sized boots being sold, it was realised that women were buying them and customising them to their personal tastes. It made sense to begin designing shoes specifically for women!

Dr Martens as a brand has been revitalised in the 21st century with handmade 'originals' again being manufactured in Northampton.

Velvet uppers take Dr Martens women's shoes into another realm. Velvet is a soft, luxurious fabric which probably originated in the Far East before reaching Europe, via the Middle East, in the fourteenth century. Modern manufacturing methods and fibres have reduced production costs which means that velvet is now available to all, but it still retains its luxurious aura.

Styles in velvet

Various styles of Dr Martens women's shoes have been produced in velvet, including:

1461

– a 3-eye shoe made from the iconic air-cushioned sole, the upper is made of embossed brocade velvet, in either navy or grey, with plain velvet panels.

Morada

– a lightweight and flexible one-eye shoe, made in black or cherry red velvet.

Over the years, other styles of Dr Martens women's shoes have been made in velvet including Mary Janes and Creepers with vintage shoes especially sought after.

Dr Martens women's shoes will always be at the cutting edge of fashion and help you stand out from the crowd.
