One of them is a Cooperative, with Taylor News, Dorringtons and the Harlequin, presumably a cinema. The architecture is very much 1960s. Note the absence of cars and people. The development is still going strong.
The original town hall, designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd who planned the new town development in 1947. Note the Henry Moore sculpture 'Harlow Family Group' in front of the building. Henry Moore lived and worked a few miles away at Perry Green and this was one of his first major public works.
