    By the late 1960s, it was clear that changes to the Series IIA were necessary if Land-Rover was going to maintain it's edge. The result was the new Series III was an evolution of the Series IIA design, rather than a complete revamp.

  • LAND-ROVER SERIES III (3) - 1971-1985 - Fine Art Print

    Little changed cosmetically between the IIA and the Series III Land-Rovers. The Series III is the most common Series vehicle, with 440,000 of the type built from 1971 to 1985. The headlights were moved to the wings on late production IIA models from 1968/9 onward (ostensibly to comply with Australian, American and Dutch lighting regulations) and remained in this position for the Series III.
