Magic Roundabout Toys
The Magic Roundabout was created in France by Serge Danot in 1963. It was originally broadcast between 1964 and 1971 and was known by its French name 'Le Manège enchanté'. Between 1965 and 1977 the BBC broadcast their own dubbed version of the show in the UK, using the original animation footage.
The Magic Roundabout is and always was very popular with children and adults alike; in fact, the BBC received complaints from many adults when, in 1967, it moved the shows broadcast time from an early evening slot to an earlier slot for children. Other versions of the show have been made since and film versions have also been released. Magic Roundabout toys embody the spirit of the programme, sparking children's imagination and forming a part of many toy collections around the world.
