Lilium distichum is a native lily species in Korea, northeastern China and far eastern Russia. It is hardy to zone (UK) 5. It is in flower in July, and the seeds ripen from Aug to September. Suitable pH: acid and neutral soils.

I myself harvest a few hundred bulbs annually, clean them, top and tail the bulbs and place in a sealed tupperware container, which then goes into the freezer. I take a few out as needed and one of the good things about this plant is you can't spoil your food by over using the bulbs as you can do with traditional garlic.
