Patrick Ewing Trainers - Men's Athletic Shoes

The former New York Knicks star has relaunched his classic shoe brand with Patrick Ewing trainers - a range of men's athletic shoes designed with a retro look.

Relaunch of a retro classic

In 1989 basketball legend Patrick Ewing started producing his own line of sports shoes. Ewing Athletics sold some of the world's coolest trainers until the company closed in 1996.

These retro-styles have become popular again, so in 2012 Ewing Athletics was reinstated, producing identical copies of the original trainers sold in the 1980s and 1990s.

As well as relaunching Ewing Athletics' most famous shoe, the 33 HI, other famous designs such as Focus, Guard, Center, Wrap and 33 LO are also in production.

33 HI - A Ewing classic

Ewing Athletics' most popular design was the 33 HI and now it's back and as big as ever. The revamped trainers are an exact copy of the original 1990 design, down to the classic ankle strap that can be worn at the front or at the back. They come in a wide range of colours and have cushioned midsoles for comfort.

They are available in a variety of finishes, including leather, suede and nubuck (a type of leather that has been worked to imitate suede). For a lighter, more breathable trainer, look out for pairs made from 'SpeedWeave'.

Patrick Ewing Concept trainers

Another popular model is Concept a reissue of the trainers worn by Patrick Ewing during the 1992 basketball season. Patrick Ewing Concept is a hi top leather trainer with a midfoot strap that offers additional support. It also features midsole cushioning for extra comfort.

Hip-hop style

Patrick Ewing trainers have always been popular with hip-hop artists. Tupac Shakur, Kriss Kross and Gang Starr all wore Patrick Ewing trainers.

These days they're just as popular. Rapper, actor and producer Soulja Boy is a 33 HI fan, so is the hip hop collective A$AP Mob. Both Ferg and Rocky have been pictured wearing Ewing Athletics footwear.
