Diecast Cars Trucks and Vans

Some diecast cars, trucks and vans are made specifically as toys whereas others are aimed at the collector. All are made as exact scaled down vehicle replicas and can be collected by vehicle series by the serious hobbyist. Diecast vehicles are available as traditional fixed models and can also be purchased as ready-to-assemble model kits.

The Diecast Method

The diecast method uses a process which forces metal into a mould under high pressure. Diecast toys are almost entirely made from metal with the exception of additions such as rubber, glass and plastic. The first diecast toys were made in the early 20th Century. However, it wasn't until the late 1940s that the car was to become the most popular diecast toy in history.

Today, diecast cars, trucks and vans are available in a wide choice of options and are produced by long established toy vehicle manufacturers such as Corgi, Matchbox and Tonka. Most diecast cars have moveable bonnets and doors and other authentic detailing to emulate their real life counterparts.

Series Collections

If you have a passion for cars why not collect them in miniature? The huge variety available to the budding collector goes beyond simply passenger cars and many popular categories also include sports cars, NASCAR racecars, pickup trucks and service and construction vehicles. Many collectors often search to collect a specific series of vehicles from popular ranges such as Corgi Classics, Hot Wheels Classics or Matchbox Superkings.

Scale Selection

Diecast cars, trucks and vans are produced in various scaled sizes, from 1:12 and 1:18 scale to as small as a 1:1478 scale. The most popular size to collect and trade tends to be 1:64, which is an ideal scale to store quite a few models if you are a serious collector but short on space – perfect for a display case.
