There is no Hartman label attached on the trunk itself, only patent label - but the system of opening it is made and patents are identical as Hartmann's ones. Hartmann had a very specific design and this type of opening system.
A very rare and well made fine, well over 300 years old, an amazing survivor. th century Spanish walnut and iron bound trunk or chest. Depth:- 58.5cm. This piece just screams age charm and style. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page.
A lovely Victorian mahogany converted cellarette. We date this cellarette to the mid 19th century. The cellarette sits on four downward tapered legs above four brass castors. The interior has been lined in green felt. The left hand side has a covered open area and the right has been fitted with three felt lined trays that slot in on top of each other. The lift up lid is fitted with a brass button handle and the top surface has a decorative frame outlined with beaded edges. There is a lower shallow drawer which sits within the bottom frame and is fitted with brass drop loop handles mounted on embossed oval back plates. There are further carry handles to the sides of the cellarette. The cellarette is fitted with a lock (key supplied).
A lovely antique red painted metal shipping trunk. We date this trunk to the early 20th century. The trunk comprises a large rear hinged lidded box. It has been red painted and has wooden bindings running its length with brass edge protectors. There is a handle to one side and although the metal brackets are present, the handle has been removed from the other side. There is a nice old shipping label to one end of the trunk. The trunk has a height of 23" (59cm), a width of 37" (94cm) and a depth of 21.5" (55cm). This lovely trunk remains in a solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. The leather straps are present that run over the top but have been cut just above where the catches would have been.
