We think these are coasters but they are larger. The cover is in need of repair as it's coming away but the glass has protected the embroidery. We think it has been stitched on black velvet. Height: 0.5 cm.
SEE ALL 12 OF MY PHOTOGRAPHS FOR CONFIRMATION. WRITTEN IN A VERY YOUNG HAND (I’LL THINK YOU’LL AGREE). A WONDERFUL PIECE. HOW CAN YOU PUT A PRICE ON THE CHILDS WRITING ON THE BACK?. THE COLOURS ARE SO VIBRANT- UNLIKELY TO HAVE BEEN HUNG IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT.
Vintage 1800s Table Centre or Panel for either fire screen or frame. Wonderful gossamer fine silk has been used to create this lovely item. Originating from the Kashmir region it's been embroidered exquisitely in silk thread. The pulled work is stunning as are the jours which compliment the work at the 1,5'' bordered edge. Size; 23'' Square. The item bears a stamp to one corner of its underside, this may be a quality stamp and is in ink. Please see photographs. The item was purchased in India about 1860 and has remained unused and stored since this date. It's quite a nice size for display, suiting any vintage, antique or boutique home.
