A rotund lady wearing a tri-corn hat and a voluminous dress holds a bottle of ale in one hand and an ale glass in the other. There is a very small chip to the rim of her tri-corn hat (see photo 5) otherwise the Toby Jug is in very good condition.
This character Toby jug depicts Mr. Pickwick from the novel by Charles Dickens. It is made in earthenware with good and detailed all round hand painted colouring. Made by Parr of Staffordshire. The jug is in excellent condition with just a few tiny paint rubs.
