It was made by Ernst Heissenberger at Furusunds Keramik, Norrtalje Kommun and has his impressed marks and inscribed signature on the base. The dish is decorated as a compass and painted in mottled blue with blue details.
This lovely Stone ware Tankard has been specifically designed as a one off and signed to the base by the Artist. Very similar to the Arabia ceramics of Finland/Scandanavia. The Fiery red compliments the mottled Black and inner greens of this Mug. The signature on the bottom looks like Sotka – bu?? I am not sure – please see photos. In any case it is a unique design with curved handle that has a deliberate thumb rest at the top with the handle purposely being at an angle.. Measures 5” (13cm) tall x 3.5” (9cm across the top and 4”(10cm) across the base.
