Vintage / Retro Side and End Tables with Matching Pair

Side tables and end tables are useful and attractive pieces of furniture. Use them for placing lamps or vases, displaying photos, storing books, resting drinks or just completing the look of a room. Vintage/retro side and end tables with matching pair can perform all these functions well but their purpose is mostly for style. It is ideal to get a matching pair of vintage side or end tables for greater effect.

If the style of your home is classic or vintage then antique end tables or retro side tables could make fine additions in a living room or hallway, especially if you choose side tables with shelves . There's a style for every historic period dating back to the 18th century and they have been made in most shapes and sizes. It is most common for vintage end and side tables to be made from hardwood but metals including silver and gold leaf have also been used.

Retro side and end tables

Reflective of more recent time periods, retro side tables tend to be less ornate and grandiose than vintage end tables. There are exceptions of course. Retro side and end tables from the 1930's Art Deco period often have ornate designs and offer attention grabbing features, such as mirror side tables, which can be used as a room's focal point. Other retro side tables reflect the more simplistic, minimalist and mass production feel that became increasingly popular in the 1950s and throughout the 1960s and 70s.

Oak vintage retro side and end tables

If real wood furniture is your preference then oak vintage or retro side and end tables with drawers will appeal to you. Styles vary considerably, so if at first you can't find the vintage/retro oak table in a design you like, do not give up as you will most likely find the look you desire eventually. It is a similar situation with mahogany vintage or retro side and end tables as there is also a large quantity of differing styles.

Solid wood side tables will coordinate well with many home styles but it is important to determine the right size. If it is to be placed by your sofa and used for resting drinks then the top should be no higher than the top of your sofa. If you're placing it elsewhere in your living room, the top should be proportionate with your sofa's arms.
