Add a splash of style with voile curtains
Voile curtains are an easy way to add a splash of colour to a room or enhance privacy. Readymade designs can be hung straight onto an existing curtain rail, and are available as both shorter window designs and long floor-length versions for French or patio doors. Voile itself is a sheer fabric, which means it allows light to pass through, which is why voile curtains are often used alongside traditional curtains and blinds.
Different colours and patterns
Both cotton and polyester voile curtains are available in the full spectrum of colours and patterns. The sheer nature of voile curtains means they are a subtle way to add pattern, colour or texture to a room. Natural designs like leaves, flowers or willow tree patterns are a common choice of embroidered voile curtains, especially in calming greens, browns and creams.
For a more modern finish, metallic or glitter trims or strips across the top panels of the curtains can inject a bit of colour and reflect light into a room. It's even possible to layer voile curtains to create a rainbow effect if desired, perfect for children's bedrooms or playrooms.
Voile curtains are often used as a more contemporary version of the traditional net curtains, perfect for letting sunlight in while helping to keep the interior of the room private from the outside of the house. These sheer curtains also have the added benefit of helping to prevent insects flying into a room on a sunny day when the windows are open, stopping flies invading a house in the summer for example.
Made to measure curtains are often required in a room. But the lightweight and decorative nature of voile means that if a pair of sheer curtains is too long to hang straight, they can be turned into a voile swag, enhancing any window or door frame.
