About Drayton Mid Position Valve
When your central heating fails, and the taps in your house stop producing hot water, the first place to check is your boiler. Everybody's been there, and it's not a pleasant experience, especially in the colder winter months when you are craving a warm shower, or you're shaking because of the low temperatures. The mid position valve is one piece of equipment within the boiler that controls one of its major functions.
A mid position valve is used for switching the hot water that comes from your tap, to the water that flows through your pipes and radiators for heating. A motor in the casing above the metal valve is used to drive the valve in one direction when the central heating is triggered, and it moves the other way when the hot water tap is turned on, whether that's in the bathroom, the shower or the kitchen. For cases when both central heating and tap water are needed, there is a mid position for the valve to be in (hence the name mid position valve). At this point, the motor is stalled because the direct current is running through the diode and resistor. Micro switches within the valve control the sequencing of the boiler.
Many of Drayton's mid position valves will come in their original packaging, whereas others will be second hand, or unused but do not have their original boxes or case. Some of the Drayton mid position valves will come in separate pieces, with the relevant screws and nuts needed to piece it together, whereas others will come already assembled.
