About Herman Miller Chair
Herman Miller is an American company, that specialises in home furnishings, office equipment and office furniture. Founded in 1905, they started off producing just traditional wooden furniture, with more modern lines added as a result of the Great Depression.
Herman Miller are known for a wide range of different chairs, which are designed for style and comfort. They are also ergonomically designed to keep the user's posture correct. The company produces a range of different types of chair, including office chairs, guest chairs, stacking chairs, stools, lounge seating, bench seating, public seating and outdoor chairs.
One of the most successful and popular Herman Miller chairs is the Aeron Chair, which was designed in the 1990s. The design of this office chair is so well respected that it is even a permanent feature in the Museum of Modern Art. The 2003 Mirra office chair was awarded an Ergonomics Excellence Award in 2004, in addition to other awards, and is manufactured from 42% recyclable materials.
The Herman Miller brand is also known for its range of Eames chairs. Charles and Ray Eames started to work with Herman Miller in the 1940s, with a range of moulded plywood chairs that included the Eames Lounge Chair. Their work with plywood developed into the pair working with moulded fibreglass chairs, and the range that they have designed for the Herman Miller brand includes executive seating, multi-use and guest chairs, stacking fibreglass and plastic chairs, stools, lounge seating such as the Aluminium Group and Soft Pad chairs and more.
