About King Size Divan Bed
King size beds are more generous in their proportions than double size, and are smaller than a super king. In the UK and Ireland, a king size bed tends to measure 152cm width by 198cm length.
A divan bed is comprised of a base and mattress that are used together, although each element may be acquired separately. If they are being bought individually it is important to check that the dimensions are compatible, as there can be some variation of dimensions even within the standard size categories.
King size divan beds come in different styles and offer varying benefits, with some providing specific options such as hypoallergenic mattresses or memory foam.
Solid base divans may have drawers built into the base which provide significant under bed storage. These often come as divan sets with a mattress that matches the base. Some solid bases may have springs built into the top of the divan for extra comfort.
For maximum storage there are also bed frames which allow for the whole of the top portion of the base to be lifted up, opening up a large free storage area under the mattress.
Bed frames may also be made without solid box bases; these tend to be crafted from metal or wood and may have a headboard and/or a footboard built on. This style of bed may sit straight onto the floor if it is a low style, or it may have legs providing a space underneath that can be used for flat under bed storage boxes.
