About Samsung SRD
Samsung's SRD range is a line of multi channel digital video recorders. Intended for use as security control systems, the SRD lineup includes four, eight and 16 channel recorders, as well as a selection of hard drive units to give extra video storage capacity.
All SRD models are designed to conserve as much storage space as possible, allowing user to record hundreds of hours of footage before archiving the unit. To this end, most SRD units support the H.264 compression standard, allowing the SRD to reduce the size of the video files it records without compromising on quality.
The 16 channel SRD models are mostly intended as high-end devices, offering customers with large premises fine control over their network of security cameras. Units such as the SRD-1654D support real time playback in full 1080p HD, the same quality as a broadcast HD TV channel. Most 16 channel SRD models have multiple hard drives, which can either be combined into one large drive to increase capacity or used to back each other up, reducing the chance of data loss.
At the other end of the range, the four channel SRD units are ideal for small businesses and retail. For example, the SRD-442 is designed for maximum ease of setup and use, even including a built-in LCD display to let users play video back without having to connect the unit to a TV or monitor.
SRD digital video recorders can also be used to stream video directly to an iOS or Android smartphone via a custom Samsung app.
