About Wenger SwissGear
Swissgear is a line of protective carry bags for laptop computers and other electronic equipment, made by travel gear company Wenger. The Swissgear lineup includes a wide range of styles and shapes, including backpacks, saddle bags and handbags. Wenger also manufactures smartphone and camera cases under the Swissgear brand.
The Wenger company made its name as one of the two manufacturers of the famous Swiss Army knife, a multipurpose pen knife featuring a wide range of useful in-built tools. The company diversified its portfolio over the course of the 20th century, adding watches, camping equipment, and the Swissgear range of bags to its lineup. The company was purchased by rival Victorinox in 2013, although the two companies continue to operate independently.
Swissgear bags are designed to protect electronics and other fragile items in the event of a drop. This protection is achieved through the use of design features such as shock absorbers on bag straps, durable rubberised handles and toughened plastic bag bottoms. Many Swissgear bags have a specific padded compartment for a laptop, providing further protection.
Some Swissgear bags are designed for specific purposes. For example, the GA-7001-02F00 has wheels on the bottom and an extendable handle, allowing it to be used as a small carry-on suitcase for air travel. Many such bags are also water-resistant, allowing users to transport electronics through rainy or wet conditions without fear of their equipment becoming damaged.
In general, Swissgear bags are constructed from polyester, although leather models are available in certain body styles
