History of FishingThe angling, reeling, and enthusiasm of the final catch
Fishing: A worldwide practice steeped in ancient history
Although early man used it as a means to source food, fishing gained popularity as a hobby and a sport in the 16th and 17th centuries. Throughout history, newer fishing methods were invented, and in the 16th century, anglers were able to traverse deep waters on boats in search of fish. Practiced by the ancient Egyptians, Romans, and aboriginal fishermen of North America, fishing is a symbol of life and the interaction of man with the rich aquatic species that thrive below the deep and shallow waters of the Earth.
