Klarna Pay in 3
With Klarna Pay in 3, you have the option of paying for your eBay purchase in 3 equal monthly instalments.
The first payment is due one month after placing your order, and all payments are automatically collected monthly from your bank account linked to Klarna.
When financing purchases over £200 you sign an instalment purchase contract via an online form with Klarna.
How to pay with Klarna Pay in 3
If Klarna Pay in 3 is available as a payment option, then it will be shown at checkout.
- Select Klarna Instalment Purchase as your payment method and confirm by selecting Pay with Klarna. You’ll then be redirected to Klarna.
- You have the option to select your monthly instalments and the period. The debit interest rate for your selected instalment payment will also be displayed.
- Now enter your personal details.
- You may be asked for your date of birth
- For orders of £200 or more, Klarna will ask you to sign a contract for an instalment purchase via an online form. To do this, simply follow the instructions on your screen and answer the questions displayed. Klarna will also ask you to enter your bank details during this process
- Confirm your instalment plan and terms.
- After you've confirmed the payment, you'll be redirected to eBay.
When can I pay with Klarna Pay in 3?
If Klarna is available, you’ll see it as a payment option at checkout.
Klarna Financing
Klarna Financing allows you to pay in 6, 12, 24 or 36 monthly instalments. You’ll see the option to pay over time at checkout, and you must make each payment by the due date. You can also repay all or part of the credit at any time at no extra cost.
How to pay with Klarna Financing
- Add the item to your basket and select Instalments at checkout.
- You’ll be asked to provide information about yourself to check your eligibility.
Once approved, your payment plan will be created and your eBay order will be automatically placed. It’s a short application and you won't have to leave eBay.
To be eligible for Klarna Financing you must be at least 18 years old and a UK resident. Your application is subject to Klarna's review and your financial circumstances. Klarna will do a full credit check when you apply for Klarna Financing.
Klarna Financing options are credit plans with repayment terms ranging between 6 and 36 months. Interest rates will vary, depending on the credit agreement, but will be clearly displayed at checkout. Monthly instalments are collected automatically from your bank account via direct debit. It’s important to ensure you have enough funds in your account to cover the repayment on your due date each month.

Pay in 30 days
Klarna Pay in 30 days is available for most items with a total value of up to £600 per order. You have up to 30 days from the date of purchase to pay for your purchase at no additional cost. You won’t pay anything upfront and you won’t be charged interest when you pay the full amount within 30 days.
If Klarna Pay in 30 days is available for your purchase, it will be displayed as a payment option during checkout.
- During the checkout process, select Klarna Pay in 30 Days as your payment method and confirm your selection by selecting Pay with Klarna. You will now be redirected to Klarna.
- You may be asked for your date of birth.
- Check your order and shipping details.
- After you confirm the payment, you will be automatically redirected to eBay.
You’ll promptly receive an email from Klarna with details of your order and invoice information. You generally have 30 days from the date of purchase to pay the purchase amount. All your payment information, such as invoice number and bank details, is provided in the Klarna invoice email and is always visible in the Klarna app.
Klarna Pay in 30 days isn’t available in the following cases:
- The total amount of your order is more than £600
- You have chosen a delivery address outside the UK
- Your order contains items from excluded categories
- Items in your order have different delivery methods (for example, one with pickup and one with express delivery)
- You are using an older version of the eBay app
Excluded categories
Klarna Pay in 30 days isn’t available in a few categories, for example in certain categories or subcategories:
- Family planning & eroticism
- Magazines
- Coins and paper money
- Property
- NFTs
- Machetes
- Vouchers

Repayments and interest on overdue payments
The first payment to Klarna is due one month after the order, and subsequent payments are automatically debited monthly from your bank account linked to Klarna. You can view your payments by logging into your Klarna account.
Late payment fees
If you don’t pay your instalments on time, you may incur late payment fees. Please go to the Klarna website for more information on reminder or late payment fees.
Refunds
If you receive a refund for your eBay purchase (e.g. because you returned an item), Klarna will refund the amount to your bank account and/or adjust your payment plan accordingly. This usually takes 5-7 business days.

Troubleshooting when paying with Klarna
If you have problems in the checkout process when paying with Klarna instalments, please check the following:
- Is your order eligible for Klarna instalments?
Klarna isn't available for all items on eBay.co.uk (see excluded categories). You may need to choose another payment method to complete your purchase - If Klarna is greyed out, your order may not be eligible to be funded using Klarna for some of the following reasons:
- Delivery address is outside of the UK
- Your cart may contain items from more than 1 seller
- Your cart contains items from an excluded category
- Have you entered your bank account details correctly?
If you want to pay with Klarna instalments, you'll need to enter your payment information during the checkout process. Please make sure that you have entered your bank account details and personal information correctly
Why was my Klarna order declined?
There are several reasons why Klarna may decline the selected payment method. Here are some examples:
- Bank details provided couldn't be verified
- Identity verification failed
- There's a delay in payment from another order
- Klarna credit check failure
