Delivery date options for buyers

Estimated delivery dates let you know when you can expect an eBay item to arrive.

Deliveries may be delayed due to COVID-19. We recommend waiting a few days after the expected delivery date before contacting the seller to let them know that your item hasn’t arrived yet.

You'll find more information on other measures we’ve put in place for buyers in our COVID-19 update page - opens in new window or tab.

If you need your item to arrive before a specific date, check the estimated delivery on the listing before you go to checkout.

Where can I find the estimated delivery date?

You can find an estimated delivery date on any eBay listing that offers postage.

After completing your purchase, you'll find the updated estimated delivery date in your purchase history - opens in new window or tab along with any tracking information if it's been uploaded by your seller.

If you bought as a guest, your estimated delivery date will be in your order confirmation email.

How estimated delivery dates are calculated

Estimated delivery dates are based on:

  • Dispatch time – Sellers set their dispatch time based on how long it takes them to package the item and prepare it for posting. This can range from the same working day, to up to 30 business days from when they receive payment
  • Postage or courier services – Most sellers offer a variety of delivery options, so you can choose the service you prefer when you're checking out. Delivery times can vary depending on which service is used
  • Cleared payment – If you're using a payment method where the money isn't available to the seller immediately, such as a bank transfer, the seller may wait until the payment is in their account before they send your item
  • Other factors – We also consider additional criteria such as the distance between your delivery address and the item's location.Time may be added to the estimated delivery dates to account for any delays in the delivery network due to unexpected disruptions or increased delivery volume (e.g. severe weather, natural disasters, unscheduled events, peak seasons, the ongoing impact of COVID-19 and Brexit, etc.).

If you need to get your item urgently, check to see if your seller offers an express delivery option.

Weekend delivery

Whether an item can be delivered during the weekend depends on the postage options provided by the seller. An item's estimated delivery date is based on working days, so weekends and public holidays aren't included in that calculation.

If the seller doesn't offer weekend delivery, you can contact them to ask if it's possible. If the seller agrees to your request, you may have to pay additional postage fees.

Free 1, 2, 3 day postage on eBay

If you see a listing with this message, you can expect to get your item within 3 business days, and you won't be charged any delivery fees.

As the distance between the item’s location and your delivery address is a relevant factor, you'll see a more precise estimated delivery date after you confirm your delivery address during checkout.
