Submitting or updating your information for managed payments

To receive payouts in your bank account, your account details need to be verified.

With managed payments, your buyers will complete their transaction on eBay and you’ll receive payouts in your bank account once your details have been verified. To complete your verification, we’ll need to confirm your identity, bank account details for payouts, and business details if applicable. We’ll verify your details at the time you register for managed payments, and when you change any relevant information on your account.

If we’re not able to verify your identity, bank account, or business details, we may contact you for more information. If we need to further verify any information, we’ll place a banner on your eBay account letting you know what needs to be verified. You'll need to have switched to the new selling overview - opens in new window or tab in My eBay to see the banner.

If your account has already been activated for managed payments but we need to verify some of your details, a hold may be placed on your payouts until we’re able to verify the information you’ve given to us.

Tip
Be sure to double-check your information is accurate before submitting it, as this can avoid delays later on.

What you need to do to receive payouts

To receive payouts for items sold on eBay, you’ll need to link your bank account to your eBay account. It’s important to make sure that the names on both accounts match.

  • For a personal account, your first name and last name should be the same on your bank account and your managed payments account
  • For a business account, the business name associated with your bank account should be the same as the business name you use to register for managed payments
    • For example, if the business name on your bank account is “Joe’s Hobby Shop”, that’s the name you should use to register for managed payments

It’s also important to make sure that your account type on eBay matches your bank account type. For example, if you have a business eBay account, you’ll need a business bank account to enroll in managed payments.

Confirming your identity

To complete your verification, we'll need to confirm your identity. If you’re a Registered Business or General Partnership seller, we’ll need to confirm information about your business, as well as any beneficial owners, and directors or partners, if applicable.

Individual sellers (one person or a married couple) will need to provide:

  • Full name
  • Nationality
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Date of birth

If you're selling as a Registered Business (Company – LTD/Unltd, LP, LLP), you'll need to provide:

  • Legal business name
  • “Doing Business As” (DBA) name/Trade name (if you have one)
  • Company Registration Number
  • Business address
  • Phone number
  • Individual identification information for beneficial owners, and directors/partners

If you’re selling as a General Partnership, you’ll need to provide:

  • Partnership name
  • “Doing Business As” (DBA) name/Trade name (if you have one)
  • Business address
  • Individual identification information for beneficial owners and partners

Providing proof of identification

If we can’t verify your identity using the information above, we may need you to send us a photo of a valid form of identification. We’ll send you an email, as well as place a banner on your account, as a reminder to let you know what we need, including instructions on how to upload the image. 

We accept the following forms of identification:

  • Current driver’s license
  • Passport

Before you upload the photo of your identification, make sure it’s clearly visible, as we may not be able to verify your details if the image is blurry or if information is cut off. Your image can be in JPEG, JPG, PDF, or PNG format. The maximum file size is 10 MB.

Verifying your banking details

To make sure you receive payouts, you’ll need to provide us with the details of your bank account. You can provide this information during registration, or after your account has been activated for managed payments.

To verify your bank account, we'll need:

  • Name on the bank account
  • Bank name
  • Sort code
  • Account number

Once we verify your information, we’ll send you an email to let you know you’re set up.

Providing your bank statement

If we can’t verify your linked bank account using the details above, you may need to send us a colour picture of a recent bank statement for that account. If we need this additional information, we’ll send you an email with instructions on how to upload the image.

Please make sure that the bank statement:

  • Is for the account you’re trying to register
  • Is for an account that belongs to you and shows your first and last name
  • Is less than 12 months old
  • Shows at least the last 4 digits of your bank account number
    • If it’s a credit union account, include the last 4 digits of the account number and not the member number 
  • Contains the official letterhead of your bank

Your image can be in JPEG, JPG, PDF, or PNG format. The maximum file size is 10 MB.

Changing to a business account

If you want to use a business bank account to sell on eBay, you should register as a business account. If you registered as an individual, here's how to switch to a business account:

  1. Go to My eBay and select Account.
  2. Select Personal Information, then Edit Information.
  3. Select Change account type to business.
  4. Choose business type, fill in your information, and select Continue.
  5. Verify all information is correct and select Confirm.

Once you’ve changed to a business account, you may need to submit additional verification information. If we need to verify any information, we’ll notify you by email and place a banner in Seller Hub letting you know what to do next.

To activate your account for managed payments, the name on your bank account must match the name on your eBay account.
