    Quality Optical Grease...Plus!

    I purchased this product to use in refreshing the grease packing in my Celestron C90 spotter. The grease originally used was Mobile 1 and it had long since dried out. After carefully cleaning as much as the old dried, pilled up grease as possible I then applied the new Helimax grease in three layers, each time disassembling and wiping away the excess. Then Incompleted the reassembly of the C90 Mirror lens scope. Operation is now silky smooth, but firm. So the grease is not TOO thin, just right. I purchased the Helimax because of its non-migrating, low vapor qualities since you don't need migration clouding up the delicate aluminum coating on your mirror. It works as advertised and a little goes a long way. I have also tried this product on the frames and slides of my semi-auto ...

    The price is total rip off and it's nothing special as far as I can see!

    Bought it to use on a rifle scope but it's totally unsuitable with no damping effect whatsoever and much too light. The scope is not at all worn but the fine focus threads needed re-lubing. I can't see how it would be any use for anything but a small camera lens perhaps. Nice enough stuff though and I'll find a use for it on my guns. I could have bought the same spec products in the UK for a third of the price with no shipping but thought it was especially for optical and scientific instrument use. If you need a slow smooth damping effect so that your focus setting stays put forget it. It's just a soft silicon grease like any other soft silicon grease and massively overpriced by claiming a unique specialist use for optics and selling it in a tiny pot.

    Excellent product

    This is an excellent product and a small amount goes a long way. I used this to lubricate the focussing threads in a Leica lens I was repairing. The lens now works silky smooth with no migration of the helicoid grease from the lens threads. Absolutely recommended for for delicate machine parts and well worth the cost.

    The best lubricant for helicoid drives, a must for photographic lens repairers

    Helimax-XP is known among technicians as one of the best lubricants for helicoid drives, for its performance and superior stability. Used for restoring older manual-focus photographic lenses, this means the lens would stay operational for much longer without the danger of the lighter oils leaking from it and fouling the mechanics, evaporation causing oil stains on the glass surfaces, or the lubricant drying up causing the mechanism to freeze up. Recommended unreservedly.
