Following the lead of Nintendo's earlier Mystery Dungeon games, Explorers of Darkness transports DS gamers to a land before humans where, instead of playing as a trainer, they take the first-hand role of a pocket monster. In the beginning of the game, players answer a series of questions to help them decide which Pokémon to play as. The role-playing adventure involves befriending other Pokémon and exploring randomly generated dungeons where enemies and treasure await.<br> <br>As is tradition for Pokémon handheld games, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness is released alongside a companion game, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, which features the same basic story and gameplay with slightly different character choices and quests. Two DS Mystery Dungeon Explorers players can team up through a wireless connection, to trade, text chat, and complete rescue missions together.

    Love the game, amazing as the first 2

    The game play was just as engaging as the first 2 games, Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team. The graphics are up to par with the ds, and seeing that now every pokemon has their own image when they talk instead of only the important ones makes it easier to get attached to using more pokemon so their expressions can be seen. I'm sad to see the friend areas go from the first 2 games, as it was cute seeing the pokemon in your team in areas special just for them, and seeing how many of them were needed for a collection. However, the addition of eggs and pokemon wanting to join from side missions adds a whole new way to add to the team. The story bonds you with your partner even more tightly than the first, and the ending to the main story... Good lord can whoever writes the stories for the ...

    Fun game!

    I played my friend's copy of this game a few years ago and even now I still think this is one of my favorite games. Compelling story (though sometimes the in-game text gets a bit long and distracting) but overall a really good game that you can sit down and binge. If you have never played a mystery dungeon game (or are a seasoned player) I would recommend you buy this one! My favorite so far!

    All around Decent

    Nothing like what I expected but a decent game nonetheless. I went into the game expecting to become a pokemon trainer but ended up experiencing the game as a pokemon myself. It was a purchase I made without searching for information on the game but it's cute and all-in-all decent. Not great but not terrible either.
