These are the only long term solution I have found for leak-proof repairs. They are a bit tricky to install, especially with thicker, quality hoses. The main problem people seem to have is getting the repair piece into the hose itself. Less often, there are complaints about fitting the clamp around the fitting once the hose is in place. Remembering that these qualities may make it difficult to install but are, in fact, positives (a tight fit is what you want, isn't it?) the solution is preparedness. First, cut the ends of the hose off square and clean. Second, have a reliable method of heating the hose right at hand. Some people use hot water, which should work fine. I favor a portable propane torch. Third-get the fitting ready and in place. Remove the clamps and put them on the ... These are the only long term solution I have found for leak-proof repairs. Have the bolts screwed into the nuts and close so you can slide them over the fitting without fumbling once it's in place. Now heat the hose. If you use the propane torch, be careful-the the hose will heat quickly-and you don't want to burn it. As soon as the hose is warm, slide the fitting into the hose. Careful! Don't burn yourself. Then slide the clamp over the fitting and tighten it up nice and snug. Tighten the two sides of the clamp evenly, alternating sides as you tighten. If you are installing a fitting with two sides (repairing a break in the middle of a hose instead of adding a new fitting to the end of a hose), do one side at a time.
