Third Eye Blind's self-titled first album released in 1997 is an alt rock gem! Leading the way and breaking new ground that's been followed by other bands like Eve, Blink 182, Train or Bowling for Soup, 3EB is a tight, hard hitting band. The band personnel has changed over a bit in the ensuing 8 years since this release, but Jenkins is the glue. Several tunes from this debut made top 40 and were on radio play lists across the country including: "Graduate," "How's It Going To Be," "Jumper," and "Losing a whole year." The album has gone multi-platinum selling over 5 million copies. In addition to being somewhat of a San Francisco institution on the small, but vibrant club scene, their popularity has definitely gone national and now global, too. Stephan Jenkins and Kevin Cadogan's jangly, dueling guitars and duets are full of hooks and subtlety. Underscored with rythmic bass and drums that makes you tap your feet. If you're new to the band, love their follow-ups Blue or their most recent release, Out of the Vein, or a long-time fan, you need to have this ablum. It's in my top 50 first sure.Read full review
I've been looking for this cd!! This particular album from Third Eye Blind was one that I would listen to when I was a teenager. The fact that I like almost every song on it, is even a better reason to own it again as I build up my cd collection of past music. With songs like God of Wine, I Want You, and of course the more well knowns like Semi-Charmed, How's It Going to be...how can you go wrong with this album?

one of the best 90s bands from the great city of san francisco. this band seems inocent with there easy listening sound they have when playing some of there smash hits but the truth is heared when you here it on the album. the few curse words are left in the songs and than you can here all the details about drug use and ex girlfriends and played out relationships. not your average hootie and the blowfish type band if you know what i mean...
If you listened to the radio at all during the late 90's, you heard that infectious little tune "Semi-Charmed Life". You might have written Third Eye Blind off as a one hit wonder, until you heard "Jumper" and "How's It Gonna Be". Then maybe you gave them a real listen. Or maybe you didn't, in which case you missed out in a big way. This album is infectious, yet clever and contemplative. You will be singing along by the third listen. And by the fourth you'll wonder how you ever did without. You'll be blown away, if for no other reason than the final two tracks. "Motorcycle Drive By" in particular summons a somber melancholy for those who have ever been in love, eventually building up into a powerful crescendo. One of my personal favorite songs from any band. Here's the bottom line. If you're into, or even open to, alternative rock...you owe it to yourself to check out Third Eye Blind's self-titled.Read full review
One of the best albums, so glad I purchased this. Plastic was a little scratched but the CD was in perfect condition. Played through twice, no skips, no scratches.

A band that has somehow gone mostly under the radar since this album dropped in '97, with songs recognizable by literally anyone such as Semi-Charmed Life and Jumper, this is one record I could literally play over and over again all day long and never get sick of it. Stephan Jenkins is an amazingly profound lyricist who will go down as one of the all-time greats. Stellar. Five stars
This debut is likely the best from this San Francisco foursome. If you like this band, this is their ‘go to’ CD.
