    Carbon Fibre Boat Mast Repair!

    I used this product to repair a carbon fibre boat mast that had broken into 2 pieces. I used it with the appropriate carbon fibre mat. I also purchased the plungers for the cans so that I could achieve the correct mixture at speed, I found these to be invaluable. I fitted the mast and sailed with it in a modest breeze with no problems. It appears to be a nice strong repair, I intend to sail in the Northern championships at the end of this month (August 2021) using this mast! I feel sure that the mast repair will stand up to the task. There were more than enough in volume to do this repair.

    Good product but needs thickener for gap filling.

    I wanted a reasonable quantity of epoxy resin glue to glue some timber sections together. Araldite is sold in too smaller quantities, which would have cost a lot, so I went for the West material. The only negative I found is that the combined mixture is not very viscous and so is not good for gap filling. I then had to buy a tub of West colloidal silica to thicken the mixture ( as recommended in the instructions), which was another £12. It worked fine then, but it was a pity it did not advise the need for this in the original purchase description.
