A 1st edition book published in 1978 - It came in near fine condition and was well packaged. The book was wraped in bubble wrap and shiped in a cardboard box. Thanks for a great experience. One of the best book sellers that I have worked with- highly recommended.

  • If you care about America and our history, this book full of TRUE EXPERIENCES is a must-read.

I first found and listened to this book on Audible dot com, which is how I do the vast majority of my "reading," due to time constraints. This book was so good that I wanted to actually buy the physical book to add to my library. So I bought this one on eBay. The high-quality paperback came to me in pristine condition, and I'm thrilled to have it (thank you!). It is an important book because of (IMO) its fair and balanced treatment of both sides of early America, the settlers and the Indians, both sides of which suffered immensely as our young country was beginning to grow and flourish. Putting time into perspective, the last of the actual children who were abducted by Indians and went to live amongst them died in 1950, a mere 10 years before I was born, in 1960. How profound the ...

  • Satisfies our curiosity while educating us about the culture of native American Indians during this period. in history.

These are true stories of individuals from the the late eighteenth century or early nineteenth century who were captured by native American Indians. The stories are fascinating and give us a good understanding of the way of live of native American Indians. In most of these stories I detected a certain amount of consistency in the experiences of these captured individuals. Be forewarned that scalping and torture are a common theme in this book. I am happy that I am still able to read these kind of stories because I fear political correctness may frown on such books because it may not present certain peoples in a positive light. My response to this is it is what it is.
