Needed a router to fit kitchen worktops. Never used a router before and never fitted worktops. This machine is easy to use (get the right bit though) and produced excellent results. I followed direction from online videos and took my time. 2 mason joints and 3 scribed in worktops later I'm really pleased with the results. Well priced, a good tool for diy.

The saying "You only get what you pay for" is somewhat apt when considering this low priced router. However having said that the downsides of this cheap device can be fairly easily remedied to provide a reasonably useful 1/2"router that will suffice for the majority of home DIY uses. The base moulding is plastic and can reasonably easily replaced by something a little less brittle (HDPE for instance) The aluminium base plate is not square on the straight sides but with a little filing and testing you can get each side nice and flat.Make sure that they are parallel also. The spring return on the plunge lock needs a little reshaping in order to prevent it from jumping out and this can be done easily with a pair of pliers. Don't use too much force when locking the plunge depth as this will mark the plunge shafts which are chrome plated tubes and they mark easily. This is by no means a professional level router, not that it is advertised as such so one has to understand the limitations and use it accordingly. For the most part it will do everything that a DIYer will normally require and it will do it well once modified. If you are on a tight budget and are only doing a few DIY jobs then this is for you and it will do the job reasonably well.Read full review

This is the second such router I have purchased, as the first one has performed very well, fixed in a router table. It is very solidly built, and has enough power for my requirements. It has the bonus of being supplied with 4 different collet sizes, so will take any size of router shank, and has an extremely solidly made guide. Can be mounted and used in a router table by applying a cable tie around the power trigger, and plugging into an NVR on/off switch. Have seen the identical router with labels of other more highly regarded makes, and at a substantially higher price !! Would have given it 5 stars, but not sure of its longevity, plus very occasionally the set speed will have a bit of a wobble, eventually correcting itself.

For the money you would expect this item to be inferior quality. Happily, it's not. Relatively quiet motor at all speeds, Good range of speeds plunge action and fine control of depth work well. Nice batch of accessories with it. Of course, it's no match for the DeWalts and Makitas of this world, but if you don't need to use it every day, it's outstanding

Somewhat larger and heavier than expected at this price but this results in big benefits of stability and power. Easy to handle and has precise control over plunge levels and speed even when working on small items. Plenty powerful enough for things like kitchen worktops etc. For use mounted in a table you will need the larger inset panel and there is no mains switch lock so that would need tie-wrapping etc. but it should work well. A definite recommend from me.
