    Spine chilling series for Christmas

    Big fan of this type of series for years and years. We tell these tales with just the right amount of understatement that really adds to the chill factor. All the tales have a similar story line (except The Signalman) but this fits perfectly into the rest of the tales. Brilliant series I just wish the BBC would employ other directors/storytellers with equally good ability to carry this on. Its something I always remember about Christmas and have very fond memories of.

    Ghost stories

    Good packaging and fast delivery. . I remember some of the BBC tv stories from my teenage years. Having read many of the M R James stories, the films were a bonus. Lovely atmospheric landscapes like Norfolk which I visited on many occasions, really do have a haunting quality about them. A truly great ghost story always leaves much to the imagination and does not rel on special effects like rubbish films from USA! The films capture the very essence of fear & terror and M R James hits the spot everytime. Even after all these years I still "jump" when an unexpected scene takes places and the British actors performances are the finest in the world bar none. My advice, don't watch these stories on your own!!

    M R James' ghost stories, well worth the price

    I saw most of these programmes when they were originally broadcast and have always wanted to see them again. The early ones based on M R James' stories are reasonably true to the originals, later ones are "inspired by" but still well worth seeing. There are also introductory features explaining the genesis of the programmes.
