    Sadly, no longer made in the U.S.A.

    So far, under foreign ownership, the Dickson Ticonderoga is, as of this time, still an excellent product. A company in Shelbyville, TN, still manufactures good pencils in the States.

    Off center graphite

    This has been my one and only go-to brand for decades. I'm disappointed in the fact that after having difficulty sharpening the pencils evenly I discovered after careful measurement that the graphite is off-center averaging .015 inch. Doesn't sound like much, but when sharpened on three different sharpeners they resulted in exposed graphite only on half of the perimeter leaving wood out to the point on the other half. I wish I could send a pic or two but my cell camera seems to have difficulty with such a small focal point.

    Quality Pencils

    If you work much with pencils as a school teacher does, it pays to purchase the best, and these are the best. Other pencils have the graphite off center causing problems when sharpening. Other pencils have brittle graphite such that it breaks during sharpening. These pencils consistently sharpen well.
