    Awesome game for mech fans.

It is a great game all around that controls just as smoothly as Zone of The Enders: The 2nd Runner. It is fast and contains some of the most memorable mechs from the different shows including their signature moves and abilities. It is a really a great looking and fun game. The only challenge is that, due to the Japanese text, it is difficult to follow the story along in detail. However you can figure out what the menus are (those that are not in English) and a very handy tutorial is more than clear about how to control each of the characters.

    clunky controls

The game plays like Gundam Encounters In Space and Gundam Seed Never Ending Tomorrow. The controls are clunky. It's unclear how attacks are operated. I think if this game was in english and had a english manual, it would be better. This game plays more like a Gundam game than the Dynasty warrior gundam games. I only got this because there was a lack of PS3 US Gundam games. The controls, movement, and performing special attacks can take some time getting used to.

  • Not the best entry but still fun

I'm a big fan of Banpresto and it's crossover series. ACE R is a graphical improvement in the series and is a lot of fun but it feels like a step backwards. The fast and furious mecha action that made ACE 2 and 3 so memorable in my eyes can't be found here. The tension guage system is not a bad addition but the smaller roster is a minus as well as the fact that a lot of the units don't handle as smoothly as would be imagined. The lack of camera control is disconcerting. Aquarion is the best unit in the game and is treated well but the units from Code Geass are a bit disappointing. All in all I don't regret buying the game but the games before this one were superior in my opinion.

  • well worth a look if you're looking for a mech game...

Good game, but the control scheme is terrible. This wasn't my first A.C.E. game so I wasn't expecting the controls to be a walk in the park. By the time I'd finished ACE 3 I'd more or less mastered the controls and I was able to focus more on the area and objectives, but in episode R I've spent more time cycling through enemy targets and weapon choices, which completely pulls me out of the action. Don't get me wrong I do not regret buying this title and I'm more than likely going to play through it from start to finish a few more times, because controls aside its a fun mech game

  • pretty good game for a mecha fan

It's a pretty good game overall but it doesn't compare to ACE 3, I have to say that I'm satisfied with my purchase and I would recommend this to anyone who likes mechas. My main problem was the control scheme, it isn't as fluid as it was on ACE 3 and it can be a little difficult to get used to specially on the first runs. Aside from that it is a very solid game and I hope the make another one.
