    Nice Upgrade for OEM notebooks!

This CPU was purchased to upgrade the i5-480M is a MSI notebook purchased by me new in 2011. While ran great when new, over time, with all of the Windows Updates & installed software, would freeze at boot if opening a browser. Got tired of this, and after a year of searching, and finally the price dropped to what I was willing to pay, pulled the trigger on the i7-620M after carefully again reading reviews, on eBay & in articles. While the GHz level is no higher than the i5-480M, and the cores were the same, this CPU features a 4MB cache rather than the 3MB one I had, and no there's no more freezing. Just keep in mind to get some quality thermal paste (I use & recommend Arctic MX-4), which can be found in a 4 gram tube on promo, likely here on eBay. Like I did with this CPU, just check ...

  • Excellent choice to boost and outlet notebook performance.

The processor arrived very fast (to Bulgaria) for 1 week - in the summer period this is more than surprizing! Thanks to the very fast shipping of the seller! The processor was carefully packed along with the thermal paste sachet. I've worder the item to substitute the processor of HP G62-140EQ model with an old Core i3 - 330m rPGA998 socket. The Core i7-620m fitted excelent and is working very good. The overall performance of the computer jumped really good (as reference please see the attached pictures and how the notebook perofrmed with the old and the new processor). Remark: to do the upgrade watch the corresponding videos for how to disassemble your notebook in youtube. For me was about half an hour with few screw drivers and patient.

  • Slightly affordable upgrade option compare to other similar processors.....

Upgraded to i7-620M from i3-330M Boot times: i3-330M = ~40 seconds i7-620M = ~38 seconds Shut down times: i3-330M was slightly faster (surprisingly, not sure if it has something to do with other software installed) Even though the TDP is same 35W for both, i7 heats up my laptop a lot and battery charge gets drained very fast. I would say battery life is half compare to i3. Windows experience index has gone upto 6.9 from 6.2. Suprisingly RAM index has gone upto 6.9 from 6.3 after i7 upgrade. Windows user experience feels slightly better/snappier. There is definitely faster feel after the upgrade. i5-580m, i7-620m, i7-640m are much alike and i7-620m is the cheapest for some strange reason so I have selected it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Solid CPU Upgrade

My wife's Dell Studio 1749 was, in the words of my sons, slow. I put a trio of upgrades to it: This CPU, an ATI graphics motherboard, and a spare Samsung 830 SSD. This system is slow no more. In day to day activities, you won't necessarily notice the i7 over an i3 even, but when you have stuff to do like gaming, the i7 is a worthy upgrade.
