This brutal action game stars the man once known only as Frank Castle, who devoted his life to vengeance when his family was brutally murdered. Players take control of the vigilante hero to track down criminals and make them pay in kind for their cruel deeds. Based loosely on the 2004 Lions Gate movie, the story of Volition's Punisher game is by Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti, who have written and inked dozens of Punisher comic books. As in the comics, The Punisher has no aversion to committing acts of extreme (if not gratuitous) violence, and the game is designed exclusively for adult players.<br><br>Somewhat similar to Rockstar's controversial Manhunt, gameplay in The Punisher offers a combination of exploration, stealth, and combat. When he comes across an enemy who could help further the mission -- or one simply deserving of punishment -- the hero can attack immediately, or sneak up to perform a one-button "quick kill." Depending on the villain, the current location, and a player-determined level of aggression, one of many gruesome and fatal assaults will be performed. The game's environments also feature interrogation "hot spots," where the vigilante hero can commit violent and torturous acts on his enemies, coercing them to share information that may help him in his quest.

    This is by far one of the best games I have played. A perfect Third-Person Shooter. Punishing bad guys never felt so satisfying. Putting peoples heads into propeller blades, drill presses, and even burning people alive in a mortuary furnace. The graphics look amazing it looks like it should be on the 360 not on the Xbox. Truly a master piece. If you like The Punisher, do yourself a favor and get this game. Update: Just beat The Punisher for the Xbox. This game is awesome. Thomas Jane plays The Punisher again. However, this time he actually delivers nicely. The game is violent and the humor is dark. The tortures in this game are actually really awesome.     Amazing value for a largely forgotten title

    The best price by far I saw for this game. I missed out on it when it was new, and saw it for $20 CAD maybe 2 years ago missed out again, so getting it for $26ish when games are inflated like crazy now feels well, maybe better than I deserve! Many other offers are $50 CAD with shipping. It is written by Garth Ennis which I did not know before buying. I have comics from him which makes this feel like a more authentic 'comic book game' from days of yore. The graphics are made to feel comic booky, especially the executions which are "censored" in a super stylized way that is not visually unlike MadWorld on Wii, or Manhunt. It is not the greatest one out there but it is definitely one of the ones people should try who like collecting pre MCU Marvel media, before everything became the big ...
