Asante won an award for his portrayal yet the critics panned the movie. Having been around during the Gotti era it was hard not to know of him. He was on the news often and was a well loved, larger than life character. Asante delivers here. The filmmakers might’ve taken a few small liberties but all in all it paints a pretty good picture. It’s one of my top 5 mob films of all times.
