If you want to learn about the SCIENCE behind the art, this is the book. It's technical jabbering is ideal for someone studying this at a professional level where one is taking exams in the subject. I have set up a home studio at home and wanted this book for tips on use of light at a practical level, indoors and outdoors. If this is what you want, this is not the book. A few pages of this over formal guide and you'll be asleep! It does not inspire you to get excited about photography if you are an enthusiast, it will frighten you to death and put you right off. The author has tied the language in knots trying to sound intelligent instead of being useful and practical.
