This is a good filter but, there is one thing that keeps it from being a great filter. I normally would use the PUR brand which came with my refrigerator but I saw this one for a cheaper price and wanted to try it. After changing it out which was about as easy as changing a light bulb, I was instructed to run 4 gallons of water through it as sort of a break in period. I don't know about you but waiting on 4 gallons of water to run out of my door is a long time for me. I never had to do this with my PUR filter. After this break in though, the water does taste just as good as the PUR filter, so there you have it for a little less money you have to do a little more work to get the same result.

I purchased & just received this 2-pack filter on time. It looks OEM in picture I thought I could reserve it as Whirlpool 4396841 is not anymore easy to find & that same filter exactly fits my Thermador side by side Fridge. Whirlpool OEM & Thermador OEM filters are one & the same filter except that Thermador sells theirs for more than 3-4 times the price. Whirlpool call its filter Part 4396841 & Thermador brands theirs REPLFLT20 or Thermador part # 00750673 Both filters are manufactured by the same company for Whirlpool. And they all have embossed part number P2RFWG2 in the filter cylinder with different serial#s also embossed in each filter. The difference are the stickers, and of course the prices. But these filters have no embossed part# and nor serial numbers. And are lighter by 2 ounces compared to OEM.. .I'm not sure if this will work or fit & how much it filters the water. I wonder what's the difference inside. I will not return my purchase though & I cannot actually give assessment for now because I will not be able to install until my current filter needs replacing in about 5 months. If they don't work I just have to bite the bullet. But I will update my review then.Read full review

I have faithfully replaced my refrigerator water filter for 12+ years paying over $40 each with shipping for the manufacturer's recommended filter, PUR. The idiot light on the Kenmore Side by side is determined by elapsed time only. It is not a measure of the usefulness of the filter. This product is at least 1/3 of the price and appears to perform similarly to the PUR. And....shipping is included in the price! Bonus. The only discernible difference is that when the ice maker calls for water, the sound of inrushing water is slightly louder than it was with the PUR filter. At approximately a 70% savings, I would recommend that you give these filters a try and determine for yourself if the slightly louder inrush noise is acceptable to your family. It fits my fridge but the cap from the fridge will not go on the end of the filter. I pushed the filter in place & the cap just sits there & will fall off if bumped. The end needs to have a little bit of redesign to make it fit properly but it works & that is the most important part. SO much cheaper than buying from Lowes or Sears for my fridge for my Kenmore/Whirlpool fridge. Will order again when it is time to replace it.

Yes, this filter works and fits in my Kenmore fridge... but after 1 month of constant usage, it still has an aftertaste. It is much more cost effective than the original filter, but the original filter is better quality. I really wanted to like this product, but I guess you get what you pay for.
